One of the people I’ve met on Twitter is Holly Tucker, a historian at Vanderbilt University.
She’s written a history of blood transfusion called Blood Work. In the run up to it’s release she is writing about the process of promoting the book.
But there is something about the transition between a manuscript to a real live book that can make a person get nutty. And excited. And nervous. Nuts.
There are topics that have an audience beyond other scholars. Finding a publisher that can market to both audiences (academic and “trade”) can be a good thing to do sometimes.
I’m really enjoying the insight Holly is providing.
