I’ve got a lot going on this month.
First up, the next session of Conscious Careers starts Thursday October 6. I’m looking forward to working with a new group of students. We’re still in touch with some of the alumni and they have found it really helpful. In fact, one of them wrote about it in the ProfHacker blog at the Chronicle of Higher Education.
At the end of the month I’m travelling to Windsor, ON to talk to faculty there about research and research grants. The Director of the Office of Research Services at the University of Windsor knows that solid grant applications are built from solid research plans and ongoing programs of research.
I’m going to do my motivational speaking thing and answer lots of questions about how to maintain an active program of research in the current climate. I suspect there will be more than a few questions about SSHRCs reorganized programs, too.
In addition to the presentation and discussion, I’ll be having individual sessions with some of the researchers who will be applying for SSHRC grants early in 2012. That’ll be mainly those applying to the Insight Development Grant. This is the same service that I normally provide over the phone. If you are at University of Windsor, go talk to the Office of Research Services to find out how you can get one of those sessions.
While I’m in town, I’m offering a live workshop version of the Conscious Careers course at Green Bean coffee house. If you live in the region, I’d love to see you there.
Alongside all of that, I’ve got my regular coaching clients, and some grant proposal development clients from a few other universities. And my monthly contribution to the Careers Café at University Affairs. I’ll also be trying to post more regularly here. If there is anything you want me to write about let me know in the comments or via e-mail
I have the capacity to take on a few more. Not sure what I can help you with? What I Can Do For You
If you’re considering applying for the SSHRC Insight Develoment Grant (due early February), now is a good time to book a consultation with me. I can help you figure out what you need to do to make a strong application and then in December I can comment on a draft so you submit the best application possible.
